Lady Knights improve to 14-5 record

The E-F Lady Knights competed in the FKC Tournament last week, winning the second round contest over the Elwood Pirates by a score of 56-42. With the win the Knights advanced to the semifinals held at the Viaero Event Center in Kearney on Thursday, and were beaten out of the tournament by the Amherst Broncos 60-39.

The Knights looked good as they met up with the Elwood Pirates for the second time in a week last Monday in Eustis. The Knights managed to beat the Pirates in the non-conference matchup the previous week, by a score of 42-34 and edged them out a second time 56-42. The first half of play belonged to the Knights who took the first quarter 14-8 and the second 15-9, but the Pirates decided to come out after half and make it a ballgame winning the 3rd quarter 18-13. The score leading into the 4th was 42-35 in favor of the Knights. The Knights were able to build momentum with a steal and a few big plays, and were able to cap off a 56-42 Victory over the Pirates. Melanie Johnson had 21 points and 8 rebounds for the Knights. Preston Rieker had 13 points, 10 rebounds and Tira Redenbaugh contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds. With the win the Lady Knights improved their record to 14-4 and advanced to the FKC semifinals in Kearney

In the Semifinal round of the FKC tournament, the Knights took on the Amherst Broncos at the Viaero Event Center in Kearney on Thursday. The Lady Knights gave up a bad first half to the Broncos, but were otherwise competitive with Amherst. The Broncos won the contest by a score of 60-39 and advanced to the finals. Melanie Johnson and Preston Rieker led for the Knights with 9 points apiece. Andrea Werth had 4 assists for the Knights. With the loss the Knights season record moves to 14-5.

Scoring: Tira Redenbaugh 3, Melissa Johnson 8, Andrea Werth 4, Preston Rieker 9, Melanie Johnson 9, Alex Pleschourt 6.

Rebounds: Melissa Johnson 3, Andrea Werth 3, Preston Rieker 3, Melanie Johnson 6.

Assist: Andrea Werth 4.
