Jeanne Hansen - March 11, 2013
1922 – 2013
Adrienne Jeanne Hansen passed away on March 11, 2013, in Chatsworth, California, at age 90. Jeanne Hansen was born on June 17, 1922, the youngest of George and Linna Shelley’s six children. She was born on a farm south of Stockville, Nebraska, which was located only a few miles from where her grandparents, Ambrose and Nellie Lynch Shelley homesteaded. Later when she was still a small child, her parents moved to another farm a few miles west of Stockville. She lived on that farm with them until her marriage. She attended country schools in Frontier County and graduated from Stockville High School in 1939.
In 1940 she married Lavern Hansen, or Hans as he was called by all who knew him, and they made their home in Curtis where all four of their children were born. Jeanne and Hans moved to Washington State in 1953 to live close to the Hansen family, who had moved there following the Great Depression. In 1956 they moved once again with their family, this time to southern California, where four of Jeanne’s sisters already lived. They eventually settled in Chatsworth, where they lived until Hans’s death in 1969. Jeanne continued to live in their house in Chatsworth for over 50 years until her own death. She worked for Litton Industries in the San Fernando Valley until her retirement in 1987.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gwendolyn Floro, Beryl Davison, Maxine McCune, and Dorothy Arent; and brother, John Shelley. She was also preceded in death by several nieces and nephews. Jeanne is survived by her four children: Linna Dee Ohi and her husband Jim, of Denver, Colorado; Jon Hansen and his wife Connie of Montgomery, New York; Dianna Hanson and her husband Winston of Valencia, California; and Kevin Hansen of Camarillo, California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and one nephew.
There has been cremation, and a memorial and burial are scheduled for June in Arbor Cemetery near Stockville.
