She was born November 26, 1944 in Curtis, NE to Edgar William and Muriel Elsie (Wells) Harbert. She grew up on a farm four miles south of Moorefield, NE. She attended grade school at District 30 south of the farm. In 1962 she graduated High School from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis. She then attended McCook college until 1964 where she obtained a certificate of teaching. While at McCook she met her husband Ronald L. Wiiest. They were united on August 16, 1964 in Moorefield at the Moorefield Church of God. Following their marriage the couple moved to Seward, NE. While teaching school she took summer classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln to obtain her Bachelors Degree. When the Moorefield School closed, she began teaching in Curtis at Medicine Valley where she taught until her retirement in 2006. After retirement she remained very active in the school system. Throughout her life she was very active in many activities in the school and church as well. During the summers she spent her spare time in the garden and making sure that her kids and adopted kids were shuffled to baseball games, practices, 4-H activities and many other places.
