The Maywood and Welfleet Parishs of the United Methodist Church welcomed Tammy Aubushon as their guest pastor on November 18th of 2012. District Supt. Rev. Kay Alnor announced at the end of November that Tammy Aubushon was appointed as their pastor.
Tammy grew up in the Gothenberg/Brady area of Nebraska. Most of Tammy’s 33 years of experience in ministry has been in youth ministry, Christian education, camping ministry, and serving as associate Pastor. Tammy also has extensive experience planning, serving, and leading over 65 mission trips with the UMC. She has served in Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, and Nebraska.
“My hope for the Maywood and Welfleet United Methodist Churches is that we will grow together in our relationship with Christ in a way that we inspire those around us to know Christ also. Our worship services are not “spectator events”, they are an opportunity to actively grow in faith as individuals and as the body of Christ.”, Tammy injected.
They have noticed an increase in young couples with children coming through their doors, lately.
Jo Werkmeister, a member of the congregation mentioned, “We celebrate in having Pastor Tammy leading us in worship services.” She brings a new perspective and joy as she ministers to the people of the towns of Maywood and Wellfleet.
The Sunday morning services are held at the Wellfleet UMC Church at 9:30 a.m.. A fellowship time follows with a light brunch being served. Nikki Hanthorn is the Wellfleet Administrative Council chairperson. Nikki can be reached at 308-963-4470 to answer anyquestions.
Maywood begins their Sunday mornings with youth Sunday School starting at 10:00 a.m. Worship services begin at 11:00 a.m. Questions about the Maywood services can be directed to Carl Yonkers at 308-362-4453. Carl is the Chairman of the Maywood Administrative Council.
Retired former pastor Stan LaRue and his wife served the UMC Maywood/Wellfleet for ten years before retiring to McCook in Novemeber of 2012.
