Maywood’s celebration of Old Glory Days is in its 23rd year. The event will be held Saturday-Monday, May 25, 26, & 27th.
Festivities kick off Saturday with the annual fun run scheduled to start at 8:00am. The pie contest will follow at 9:00am, all pie makers, of all ages, are invited to enter their best pie. At 9:30 the parade line up will begin up at the high school, must be checked in by 10:30, for more information contact Troy Werkmeister @ 362-4970.
New this year is Kids Coins in the Sand at the park, 10 to 10:30 will be 3-5 year olds and 10:30 to 11 will be 6-9 year olds. The parade starts at 11:00 am, come join everyone and bring the kids for some candy! Following the parade is the meal in the park provided by the V.F.W.
While everyone is enjoying themselves at the dinner, there will also be sheep chip bingo, for ticket info contact Kim Stengel @ 362-4381. Also all the kids games begin at 12 including a waterslide, tattoos, and more, bring the kids out for a day of family fun.
The basketball sharp shooters will begin at 1, for information contact Charles Jones @ 362-4688. Also at 1 will be the horseshoe contest and the sand castle building contest. At 2 they will be having bingo down at the Community Hall for anyone that wants to relax for awhile.
To wrap it up for Saturday they will have a free will supper at the community hall from 5:30 to 7, provided by the Community Hall Board and Volunteer Fireman, and cash bar provided by the V.F.W. For the night entertainment starting at 7 will be “Stan the One Man Band.”
On Sunday the weigh in for the tractor/pickup pull starts at 9am for more information contact Clint Littell @ 362-9087. The tractor/pickup pull will begin at 11am, and concessions are provided by Maywood Lions Club.
At 11am on Monday a memorial service will be held at the cemetery followed by the 81st Memorial Day Dinner at the Comminity Hall.
