Brendan Johnsen placed second after a playoff for first place with Shad Wellman of Elwood.
The Cambridge Golf Invite was held on Thursday, March 28th at the Cross Creek Golf Links. All three Frontier County high schools competed with Medicine Valley winning with a score of 360. Eustis-Farnam finished in fifteenth place with 605 and Maywood in sixteenth place with a 711 score.
Senior Brendan Johnsen led the way again for the Raiders with a round of 77 but lost in a playoff for first place to Shad Wellman of Elwood. Junior Quinten Chanceller scored an 86 to finish in eighth place. Junior Marcus Florom finished in 16th place after losing a playoff with a score of 97. Sophomore Zane Mickelsen came in twenty-fifth place with a score of 100.
The Maywood Tigers have only two members on their golf team and finished near the back of the field.
Eustis-Farnam golfer Hunter Ringenberg played a solid round at Cambridge despite having very few early season practice sessions due to cold weather. He shot a 41 on the front nine and a 43 on the difficult back nine for his 6th place medal finish. This meet gives Hunter a good idea of the competition that will be faced at districts, as all of these teams except Southern Valley, NP St. Pats and Franklin will return to the Cambridge course on May 14th. Freshman Gage Bellamy learned how difficult the Cross Creek Golf Links is to play and will use the knowledge learned on this course to improve his play. Bellamy finished with a score of 123.
