Medicine Valley competes at the Dundy Co. Stratton Invite

The Medicine Valley track team traveled to Benkelman to compete in the Dundy County Stratton Invite held on Tuesday, April 2nd. It was a windy and cold day for the competing teams.

The Medicine Valley boys team competed very well while achieving six personal bests and finished fourth as a team with 74 points. Sophomore Chase Barthel won gold in the long jump. Sophomore Cody Aspenleiter  and junior Sage Schmidt also medaled. The 4x100 relay team medaled with a fourth place finish which included Chase Barthel, Keaton Lenz, Lucas Gleisberg and Cody Aspenleiter.  Junior Rodger Farr came in 3rd in the 800 meters while Connor Russell finished 7th to medal., Farr also came in second in the 3200 meter run and was on the 4x400 relay team which placed fourth along with Sage Schmidt, Jake Korinek  and Cody Aspenleiter. The 4x800 relay team medaled with a sixth place finish which included junior Connor Russell, freshmen Trey Willis and John Klintworth, and senior Tanner Mickelsen.

Senior Lucas Gleisberg improved from  the last track meet and finished second in the finals of the 110 meter hurdles. He also placed second  in the 300 meter hurdles. Keaton Lenz placed eighth in the 400 meter dash.

In the triple jump, sophomore Keaton Lenz came in fourth and Sage Schmidt finished with a sixth place. Freshman Sam Aanenson medaled in the high jump.  Senior Rulon Taylor placed eighth in the shot put.

 

The Medicine Valley girls team finished a disappointing eight place out of ten schools with 35 points. 

There were a few standouts which included  senior Taylor Sandoe coming in second in the shot put and sophomore Andie Chapman also placing second in the 3200 meter run. 

In the 400 meter run, junior Savannah Willis medaled with a fifth place finish. In the 800 meter run, Andie Chapman finished third while freshmen Courtney Russel came in seventh and Hannah Hosick finished in eight place respectively. 

 Taylor Sandoe managed a seventh place in the discus throw. In the 1600 meter run, sophomore Madison Clark came in seventh.

In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the girls managed a seventh place finish which included Savannah Willis, Andie Chapman, Hannah Hosick and Madison Clark.

4 x 400 Relay: 4th Medicine Valley 3:53.9 (Rodger Farr, Jake Korinek, Sage Schmidt and Cody Aspenleiter).

4 x 800 Relay: Medicine Valley 10:36.4 (Connor Russell, Trey Willis, John Klintworth and Tanner Mickelsen).
