The Medicine Valley Raiders wrestling team traveled to Amherst to compete in the D3-District Wrestling meet in hopes of qualifying for State.
Medicine Valley finished the day by qualifying three wrestlers for the State Meet. Thomas Foster, Ty Contrerez and Quinten Chancellor.
Senior Foster competed in the 132 lb weight class coming in second place. His first match was a win by a pin over Tony Vollmer of Overton in 1:15. He next won by a major decision over Deone Wilson of Elwood 13-5. He then won by decision over Bo Slingsby of Ansley/Litchfield 8-4. His last match was a loss for Foster to Brandt Florell of Amhert by a decision 2-1. He finished the day with a 3-1 record.
Senior Ty Contrerez competed in the 160 lb. weight class while placing fourth. He won his first match by a major decision over Taylor Dedrick of Overton 12-4. Next he won by decision over Asic Helberg of Southwest 7-2. He then received a bye. Next was a loss by decision 6-3 against Tommy Campbell of Wilcox-Hildreth. He again received a bye. Contrerez then lost again by a pin from Campbell to finish the day 4-2.
Senior Quinten Chancellor competed in the 182 lb. weight class and finished in second place. Chancellor won by a pin over Justin Wells of Anselmo-Merna in 3:24. next he lost to Kris Rasmussen of Amherst by a pin in 2:00.n He then won by pin over Tanner Freeman of Sandhills/Thedford in 2:24.He finished the day 3-1.
Also competing for Medicine Valley were Justin Anderson, RJ Tutlam-Hazen, Jake Korinek, Rodger Farr, Scott Taylor, Brett Jones and Cory Merrigan.
This week the Raiders head to Omaha to compete in the State Meet at the Century Link Center. You can follow the Raiders at the 2014 NSAA in the early rounds through NFHS Live Webcast.
